Amazon Cloud Player iPhone App: Null appears in an error message

Amazon Cloud Player iPhone App: The term “null” appears in an error message.

Date: 06/23/2013

iOS Cloud Player – Version 2.1.0.3018 remote_en_US

Description:

If you’re reading this, you’ll have to bear with me.   This bug is only about the appearance of a single term in one particular error message.  This has absolutely nothing to do with the convoluted steps it takes to actually activate this error message.

This bug is about an error message in the iOS Cloud Player app.  Specifically, it’s about the term “(null)” appearing in an error message in the app.

This is much easier to show than to describe, so please just scroll down to the attached screenshots if you are interested.

In the app, there is an option to create new playlists.  Using an admittedly whacky method, there is a 100 percent way to get “(null)” to appear in an error message related to deleting playlists.

The specific error message I see displays the message “Delete Playlist” and a sentence that reads, “Are you sure you want to delete the playlist “(null)”?”

The steps required are too bizarre to describe, and aren’t really all that important, anyways.  You can see screenshots below.

Steps to reproduce:

1.     Launch the Amazon Cloud Player iPhone App
2.     Sign in with your Amazon account
3.     Select “Playlists”
4.     Select “+ Create New Playlist”
5.     Create a new playlists with any name
6.     Select “Done”
7.     Select “Edit this playlist”
8.     Select “+ Add songs” and “X Delete” at the same time
9.     The Delete Playlist pop-up will appear overlaid on a screen
10. Select “Delete” then “Done”
11. Select the blank “Edit this playlist” button
12.  Select “Delete

Result:  There is a very easy and completely reproducible way to get the term “(null)” to appear inside of an error message in the Amazon Cloud Player iPhone App

Expected:  “(null)” should never appear in an iPhone app
