Amazon Cloud Player iPhone App: Easy way to crash it.

iOS Cloud Player - Version: 2.1.0.3018 remote_en_US

Description:

I’ve found an easy way to crash the iOS Cloud Player iPhoneApp

This is the exact same type of crash I’ve found with many different iPhone Apps.

This is much easier to show than to describe, so please just take a look at the attached screenshots.

With the iOS Cloud Player app, there is a “Downloads” screen where albums that have been queued to be downloaded are displayed.  This screen has a “Cancel All” button in the upper right, and a back arrow in the upper left.

Using a little two finger physical dexterity, the user has the ability to drag the “Cancel All” pop-up on to the previous screen.  This happens if the user coordinates pressing “Cancel All” and the back arrow at the same time.

Steps:

1.     Launch the Amazon Cloud Player iPhone App
2.     Sign in with your Amazon account
3.     Select some music out of the cloud
4.     Add some of your music to the download queue
5.     Head to “Settings” and then “Manage downloads”
6.     From the “Downloads” screen coordinate pressing “Cancel All” and the back arrow at the same time
7.     The “Cancel All” pop-up will be displayed incorrectly on the “Settings” screen – select “Yes” from the pop-up

Result:  There is a very easy way to crash the iOS Cloud Player app via the active downloads screen

Expected:  Shouldn’t crash, even using such a bizarre method

Note:  I’ll use the customer feedback feature I spotted, which I am guessing will give you the crash dumps.

Queue up a download on the iOS Cloud Player app.....

Head to the "Manage downloads" area of the app....

Takes a little two finger dexterity, but select the "Cancel All" and back arrow options at the same time...

You'll be left here, on the "Settings" screen with the "Cancel All" pop-up on screen.  Selecting "Yes" crashes the app.

  1. Found an easier way to crash it. All I have to do is try playing some music, and 2 minutes later it crashes. I've yet to get through a single full song without a crash.
