Stuffle iPhone App: Easy way to mess up menu text

Date: 10/07/2013

Stuffle iPhone App: Version 2.4.1

Description:

I’ve found a very minor bug with the Stuffle iPhoneapp.  I’ve managed to get this bug to reproduce four times in a row now.  The average user isn’t very likely to encounter this bug, but I’ve had to delete the app from the phone and re-download the app to make it go away.

If you haven’t downloaded Stuffle for the iPhone, you should.  It is pretty cool, and I like the idea.

I’ll describe the specifics of the bug below, but it is much easier to show than to describe, so if you’re interested, please just scroll down to the attached screenshots.

Here are the basics of the bug:

If you look at any item, there are two options inside of a pinkish banner labeled “STUFFLE.”

These two options are a back arrow and some talk bubbles.  If you use two fingers, and press these options at the same time, the text that appears inside of the pinkish banner becomes overlaid.

This text overlay continues throughout the app.

Not a huge bug, but it was very easy to cause, and I had to delete the app and re-download it to make it go away.

Steps that I used to reproduce this bug:

1.     Download and launch the Stuffle iPhone app
2.     Select “OK” from the current location prompt
3.     Select any item that appears on the “Close By” page
4.     From any item’s detail page, prepare two fingers
5.     From any item’s detail page, press the back arrow (in upper left) and the talk bubbles (in upper right) at the same time
6.     If done just right, menu text becomes permanently overlaid

Result:  Pressing the back arrow and the talk bubbles on an item’s detail page results in menu text being overlaid

Expected:  Pressing the back arrow and the talk bubbles on an item’s detail page at the same time should not result in menu text being overlaid

Repro Rate: 4/4

Download at launch the Stuffle iPhone app.

Select any item that shows up as being close by...

Coordinate pressing the back arrow and the talk bubbles at the same time.

It's a little difficult to see in the above screenshot, but menu text is now permanently overlaid.

Menu text is piling up on top of each other....

Carries on into other screens - only way I can make it stop is to delete the app and re-download it.
