myfab5 iPhone app: Stuck on "Loading..." after canceling out of Instagram login

Date: 11/24/2013
Myfab5 iPhone App: Version 1.4.5
My iPhone’s iOS: 6.1

Description:

This is a minor complaint, but cancelling out of the Instagram login page seems to strand the user on an indefinite “Loading….” Screen.

I’ve gotten this multiple times now, and I have noticed it enough to write it down.  I’ve gotten this from two different areas of account creation from within the iOS app.

This is easier to show than to describe, so please see the attached screenshots.

Steps to reproduce:

1.     On an iPhone running iOS 6.1 – download and launch the Myfab5 iPhone app
2.     Select “Sign up”
3.     From the “Welcome to myfab5” screen select “Signup”
4.     Select “Signup w/ Instagram”
5.     From the Instagram login page, select “Cancel”
6.     I keep getting stuck on “Loading…”

Result:  Canceling out of the Instagram account creation area keeps stranding me on a “Loading…” screen

Expected:  Canceling out of the Instagram account creation screen shouldn’t strand me on a “Loading…” screen

Please note:  I can continually tap on the screen, and it will occasionally take me to the email sign up screen – but as an end user it appears as if it is broken to me.

Download the app, launch it, then select this "Signup" option....

Select the "Signup w/ Instagram" option...

Cancel out of the Instagram login...

Stuck on "Loading..."

instacart iPhone app: App crashes if you use the "Sign up by Email" option.

Date: 10/10/2013
Instacart iPhone App: Version 2.8.6

My iPhone:  An old school 16GB, 3GS
My iPhone’s firmware: 6.1

Description:

The instacart iphone app (version 2.8.6) continually crashes for me if I attempt to create an account.

This crash occurs when I try to create an account using the “Sign up with Email” path inside of the iPhone app.

I’ve gotten this crash seven times in a row – I’ve gotten this crash after deleting and reinstalling the app on the phone.

Attached below are some screenshots, if you are interested.

Here are the steps that I use to get this crash:

1.     Download and launch the instacart iPhone app (version 2.8.6)
2.     Select the “Sign up with Email” button
3.     Enter in valid information for all fields on this page
4.     Select “Sign up”

Result:  The instacart iPhone app (version 2.8.6) continually crashes for me when I attempt to create an account using the “Sign up with Email” option on my iPhone

Expected:  I should be able to create an instacart account using the iPhone app’s “Sign up with Email” option

Please Note:  I signed up using a facebook account on the same iPhone, and it worked just fine.  I am only getting this crash via the “Sign up with Email” route.

Download and then launch the instacart iPhone app....

Select the "Sign up with Email" option...

Enter in valid information on the "Create Account" page....

I entered in a Chicago zip code and clicked on "Signup" - after clicking on "Signup" the app will crash.

Stuffle iPhone App: Easy way to mess up menu text

Date: 10/07/2013

Stuffle iPhone App: Version 2.4.1

Description:

I’ve found a very minor bug with the Stuffle iPhoneapp.  I’ve managed to get this bug to reproduce four times in a row now.  The average user isn’t very likely to encounter this bug, but I’ve had to delete the app from the phone and re-download the app to make it go away.

If you haven’t downloaded Stuffle for the iPhone, you should.  It is pretty cool, and I like the idea.

I’ll describe the specifics of the bug below, but it is much easier to show than to describe, so if you’re interested, please just scroll down to the attached screenshots.

Here are the basics of the bug:

If you look at any item, there are two options inside of a pinkish banner labeled “STUFFLE.”

These two options are a back arrow and some talk bubbles.  If you use two fingers, and press these options at the same time, the text that appears inside of the pinkish banner becomes overlaid.

This text overlay continues throughout the app.

Not a huge bug, but it was very easy to cause, and I had to delete the app and re-download it to make it go away.

Steps that I used to reproduce this bug:

1.     Download and launch the Stuffle iPhone app
2.     Select “OK” from the current location prompt
3.     Select any item that appears on the “Close By” page
4.     From any item’s detail page, prepare two fingers
5.     From any item’s detail page, press the back arrow (in upper left) and the talk bubbles (in upper right) at the same time
6.     If done just right, menu text becomes permanently overlaid

Result:  Pressing the back arrow and the talk bubbles on an item’s detail page results in menu text being overlaid

Expected:  Pressing the back arrow and the talk bubbles on an item’s detail page at the same time should not result in menu text being overlaid

Repro Rate: 4/4

Download at launch the Stuffle iPhone app.

Select any item that shows up as being close by...

Coordinate pressing the back arrow and the talk bubbles at the same time.

It's a little difficult to see in the above screenshot, but menu text is now permanently overlaid.

Menu text is piling up on top of each other....

Carries on into other screens - only way I can make it stop is to delete the app and re-download it.

Chewsy iPhone App: Crash from tomfoolery on "More Detail" screens

Date: 09/22/2013

Chewsy iPhone App: Version 4.2.1

My iPhone model: 3GS
My iPhone firmware:  6.1

Description:

If you haven’t downloaded the Chewsy iPhone app, you should.  It’s fun and works well.

That said, I have found a very minor crash that occurs with the iPhone app.  This crash isn’t something that the average user will run into during their use of Chewsy.  But this crash does exist – so I’ve decided to write it down.

This crash is much easier to show than to describe, so please take a look at the screenshots below.

Here are the basics of the crash:  On the “More Detail” page for any restaurant, there is a report button in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

If you press this “Report” button at the same time that you press a “Review” back button, there is an easy way to pop-up menu to appear incorrectly on the previous screen.

Once this pop-up menu appears, incorrectly, on a review screen, the app will crash once you select any option from this menu.

Like I said, this is much easier to show than to describe, so please just take a look at the attached screenshots.  This is the same type of crash that I’ve discovered with numerous iPhone apps.

Steps to reproduce this bug:

1.     Download and then launch the Chewsy iPhone app
2.     Head to any restaurant’s “More Detail” page
3.     Coordinate pressing the “Report” button and the “Review” arrow at approximately the same time
4.     With the “Report” options pop-up dragged to a review screen, select any of the options

Result:  There is an easy to reproduce crash with the Chewsy iPhone app – this crash occurs from the “More Detail” page.  The user can easily drag the report pop-up menu to the previous review screen

Expected:  No crash, no matter how convoluted the steps

Download and launch the Chewsy iPhone app.

Select any posted dish in order to head to a restaurant's "More Detail" page.

Select a restaurant in order to head to the "More Detail" page - in this instance, Seattle's Sushi Maru.

Coordinate pressing the "Report" button and the "Reviews" arrow.

This pop-up has now been dragged onto of a "Reviews" screen.

Doing anything from on the pop-up will crash the app.
